Grenoble: Sent packing

It was a bad night for the teams freshly relegated from Ligue 1 as Grenoble and Le Mans both crashed out of the Coupe de la Ligue on Friday.

Le Mans led after 10 minutes against Le Havre thanks to Fousseyni Cisse's goal, but Khaled Adenon's 64th-minute own goal took the match into extra time and Brice Jovial grabbed a winner for the hosts late in the first additional period.

Two quickfire goals midway through the second half earned Guingamp a 2-1 victory away to Grenoble.

Antony Knockaert opened the scoring (66) and Herve Bazile was on the mark three minutes later, and Guingamp held on despite Jonathan Tinhan's goal five minutes from time.

The third team to drop out of the top flight last season, Boulogne, are in action against Nantes on Saturday.

Sloan Privat marked his debut with a goal as Clermont Foot defeated Metz 3-1.

The striker, recruited from Sochaux in the summer, put the hosts in front after Romain Alessandrini had cancelled out Metz's first-half opener, which came from Rudy Gestede. Nicolas Bayod made the game safe with Clermont's third.

Ajaccio crushed Istres 4-0 as Jean-Francois Riviere opened the scoring (19) and Amor Kehiha's own goal (73) put the result beyond doubt before late goals from Richard Socrier (85) and Christian Kinkela (91) completed the rout.

Evian Thonan Gaillard beat Strasbourg on penalties after a 2-2 draw over 120 minutes. Youssef Adnane put Evian ahead from a 12th-minute penalty but Ali Mathlouthi quickly equalised (19).

It remained 1-1 until extra time as Adnane was denied a second by the referee's whistle after heading in Pierre Bouby's corner, but defender Milovan Sikimic headed Strasbourg in front five minutes beyond the 90.

But Oumar Pouye levelled with eight minutes remaining and, after Johan Durand saved the hosts' final penalty, Cedric Cambon scored the crucial goal to secure a 5-4 shoot-out success for Les Roses.

Nimes triumphed by the same margin after a goalless two hours against Sedan. The crucial moment came when Pierrick Valdivia hit the post in the shoot-out.

There was also shoot-out success for Bastia, who outscored Angers 4-2 after a 2-2 draw, and Reims, 6-5 winners over Troyes after Gregory Bettiol's crucial miss. Mounir Obbadi and Reims' Anthony Weber also missed following a 1-1 draw.

Gislain Gimbert scored his second to earn Laval a 3-2 extra-time win over Chateauroux. Jerome Lebouc grabbed the opener, while Ruddy Haddad's brace was in vain for the visitors.

Vannes beat Tours 2-1, while Amiens won 2-1 at Dijon after extra time.
